Angara pine

This special sort of pine, named the Angara pine (or Pine Siberian Stone), grows in a basin of the river Angara. Angara pine is a sort of coniferous evergreen trees from the pinewood family. The age of pine is 400 to 600 years. At mature age (120—150 years) a tree reaches the height of 30—40 meters. Its trunk is straight lined, even and easily yielded to the processing.

Timber has slightly pink kernel, which, in due course, becomes brownish-red. Sap wood is wide ranging from yellow to pink colours. Yearly layers are well visible on all cuts with the precise border between early and late wood.

Special natural conditions, which have developed in the area of the river Angara (in particular, the cold Siberian climate), have caused excellent physical-mechanical properties of timber:

  • large density (up to 540 kg/m³ or one and a half times higher than in pine growing in the middle zone of the European continent);
  • high durability;
  • insignificant quantity of twigs;
  • close layers (a close arrangement of annual rings as the result of the short vegetative period);
  • resistance to damage caused by fungous related and putrefactive processes; pine, prepared in the winter does not become blue (blue-color is one of the basic defects of timber) up to three months;
  • ease of processing (timber perfectly yields to machining and does not crack during drying).

pine is a unique natural material, which has attracted attention since long time ago due to its durability, long-lasting and pleasant touching feeling. Dating back to the Ancient Russia days, pine was widely used for housekeeping (for house building, production of carts, dug-outs, furnishings, turpentine, tar), and for medicinal purposes. Today, pine timber is used in construction, mechanical engineering, furniture manufacture, railway transportation, etc. The majority of timber products is destined for export.

The composition of Angara pine is unique and very beautiful; timber has a pinkish shade that gives it a pleasant warm look. Besides, it is worth remembering that timber is ecologically clean material. Cheaper materials as, for example, metal or plastic could never be compared to the warmth and comfort of natural pine in your house.
